Chloe’s Kitchen is a cozy spot tucked into the Mission Street stretch of Santa Cruz, serving up a focused menu of dumplings, noodles, and soulful soups. It’s the kind of place you come to when you want something comforting but with a creative twist — think dumplings filled with unexpected ingredients like walnuts and shrimp or classics like spicy kimchi broths given an authentic Asian flare.

The restaurant space isn’t large, but it manages to feel inviting rather than cramped, making it a solid choice for small gatherings or casual lunches. Locals who know Chloe’s already return for both hearty noodle bowls like the spicy beef or udon options, and for sharing a variety of dumplings that range from ginger & scallion steamed to the distinct nutel-nana version that mixes sweet and savory flavors in a single bite.

One of the standouts is the dumpling soups — their broths come across more homemade than heavy, striking a balance that feels warming without being greasy. The menu also includes nods to Korean and Japanese influences, such as spicy Korean dumplings and karaage, offering a wider palette while keeping that focus on hand-crafted dumplings and fresh noodles.

The service fits the neighborhood vibe: friendly, attentive without hovering, and happy to help navigate the menu whether you opt to order via QR code or chat with the staff in person. Parking can be a bit tight, which is common in this part of Santa Cruz, but most people find that the food makes the short walk or hassle worthwhile.

If you’re visiting midday, it’s a comfortable spot to recharge with a bowl of soup and dumplings without a rush. For dinner, the vibe stays relaxed, perfect for small groups looking to share plates and explore the variety. Whether you’re a fan of traditional flavors or interested in dumplings with a twist, Chloe’s Kitchen delivers a satisfying, homey meal that fits well into the local dining scene.

A group of six of us had a really great dinner here a week ago. We ordered several dishes and shared everything. Lots of variety on the menu. The dumplings variations were unique and tasty but my favorite was the beef noodle soup that I ordered. Service was excellent and everyone was very nice and friendly. The restaurant isn't very big but it didn't feel crowded or anything. We didn't have any trouble finding parking in the lot. Thank you for the great meal!

My first impression of this place was excellent. It’s lunch time and we’re craving soup. Food was very flavorful. The pork soup dumplings, chicken dumplings soup, spicy pork dumpling was our favorites. Soup tastes like a home cooked meal, not oily just right. Thank you to the friendly team! Customer service was great!

10 out of 5 stars. We were visiting from San Diego and this was some of the best food we've ever had. Ever. Period. I had the veggie dumpling soup-my husband had the chicken pan fried dumplings, we split the sesame tofu salad. We did not need the salad because the portions are generous. Everything was crazy good. The amazing broth and everything tasted so clean and lovingly prepared. Made me want to shake chloe's hand and then give her a kiss! The atmosphere is pleasant, peaceful, clean. Our server was kind, attentive, but not smothery. Such a fantastic experience! I want to move to santa cruz so that I can eat here once a week! The menu has a wide variety of options and they all look promising! Don't miss out on this gem!

Very nice place. You can order food through the QR code or with the waitress. They have a nice selection of dumplings and soups! The parking is a tight squeeze but def worth. I ordered the walnut shrimp dumplings (veggie option), sesame balls, and the veggie egg drop soup! Very much enjoyed the overall experience will. Def come again!

We decided to venture out from our usual noodle spot to Chloe's Kitchen and weren't disappointed! The Spicy Beef Noodle Soup was delicious, with a flavorful, savory broth and tender shank meat. Would prefer a bit spicier though, or some Szechuan peppercorn. We also tried the vegetable dumplings in chili oil, which were also very tasty! Only downside is the price is pretty steep ($18 noodles, $13 dumplings) compared to noodle and dumpling places in SF ($13-$15 noodles, $7-$10 dumplings). Kind of takes the fun out of dumplings when they are so pricey.

Absolutely the Best Chinese Food I’ve Ever Had! I’m so glad I found this place — everything we ordered was outstanding. The dumplings were absolutely amazing, bursting with flavor and perfectly cooked. The soup was rich, comforting, and delicious. On top of that, the restaurant was clean and welcoming with a nice atmosphere. You can tell they really care about the quality of their food and the customer experience. Honestly, the food was so good, I joked that I could move to Santa Cruz just to eat here regularly! I’ll definitely be coming back every chance I get.

Walk—don’t run. This place is AMAZINGLY delicious. We started with the Kung Pao dumplings, which were absolutely fantastic and packed with flavor. For dinner, we had the Spicy Sichuan Dumpling Soup, and the broth was incredible—deep, bold, and perfectly balanced. It came with a generous amount of dumplings that were juicy, tender, and so satisfying. We also ordered the Thai Peanut Dumpling Soup, which I still dream about. The broth was spot-on, and the dumplings were plentiful, plump, and bursting with flavor. I would go back again and again!
